Logr\u00f3 un caudal de votos muy importante, que se gest\u00f3 en su campa\u00f1a, donde visit\u00f3 todas las sedes y confederaciones necesarias, y que creci\u00f3 en la segunda vuelta de la elecci\u00f3n que realiz\u00f3 el Congreso Extraordinario de la FIFA en Zurich, para regularizar y normalizar su funcionamiento: Gianni Infantino gan\u00f3 con 115 votos frente a los 88 del jeque barein\u00ed Salman bin Ebrahim al Khalifa. La tercera posici\u00f3n fue para el Pr\u00edncipe Al\u00ed Bin Al Hussein de Jordania, con 4, y en \u00faltimo lugar concluy\u00f3 el franc\u00e9s Jerome Champagne, que no obtuvo voto alguno en la segunda vuelta.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed, Infantino fue elegido para conducir la FIFA y completar el mandato iniciado por Joseph Blatter en mayo de 2015; por eso su per\u00edodo comprender\u00e1 hasta 2019. Y tendr\u00e1 la nada sencilla misi\u00f3n de devolverle la credibilidad a la Federaci\u00f3n. En ella, dirigi\u00f3 un equipo de m\u00e1s de 400 empleados, que contribuy\u00f3 a fortalecer el f\u00fatbol de selecciones nacionales y de clubes en Europa y el papel de la UEFA como organismo rector internacional respetado y cre\u00edble.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Me faltan palabras para expresar mis emociones&#8221;, se\u00f1al\u00f3 el flamante presidente. &#8220;Vamos a restaurar la imagen de la FIFA. Esto abre la posibilidad de un Mundial 2030 para compartir entre la Argentina y Uruguay, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n la chance latente de aumentar a 40 el n\u00famero de participantes.<\/p>\n<p>Se cierra la jornada de elecciones y una etapa rodeada de esc\u00e1ndalos. Se abre un nuevo momento, una nueva era. Que la FIFA, en definitiva, la entidad madre del amado F\u00fatbol, pueda transitar por caminos di\u00e1fanos y transparentes.
