A partir de ah\u00ed se consolid\u00f3 en el club por un per\u00edodo hist\u00f3rico de 14 a\u00f1os y se convirti\u00f3 en una leyenda: disput\u00f3 726 partidos y es un referente de la \u00e9poca m\u00e1s gloriosa para la instituci\u00f3n. Represent\u00f3 en 28 oportunidades a la Selecci\u00f3n de Inglaterra y form\u00f3 parte del plantel campe\u00f3n de la Copa del Mundo en 1966. Luego de obtener el campeonato de Segunda Divisi\u00f3n en la temporada 1963-64, el equipo comandado por Don Revie y con Hunter como baluarte en la defensa, inici\u00f3 lo que fue la etapa m\u00e1s exitosa en la historia del club: se consagr\u00f3 campe\u00f3n de la Primera Divisi\u00f3n de Inglaterra en dos oportunidades (1968-69 y 1973-74), y tambi\u00e9n alz\u00f3 la FA Cup (1972) y la Copa de la Liga (1968). En el plano internacional, conquistaron en dos ocasiones la Copa de Ferias (1968 y 1971),  y fueron subcampeones de la Copa de Europa en 1975, esta \u00faltima ya con Jimmy Armfield en la direcci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El \u00e9xito de ese equipo posicion\u00f3 al Leeds en los primeros planos, gener\u00f3 rivalidades y despert\u00f3 envidia en los aficionados de otros clubes que lo llamaban &#8220;<em>Dirty<\/em>&#8221; (sucio) al Leeds, en alusi\u00f3n a su forma brusca de disputar los partidos. El apodo de Norman (&#8220;<em>Bites yer legs<\/em>&#8220;, &#8220;te muerde las piernas&#8221;) tambi\u00e9n surgi\u00f3 relacionado a aquellos comentarios, por las entradas fuertes que realizaba. Sin embargo, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de aquel mote que perdur\u00f3 en el tiempo, Hunter ser\u00e1 recordado por haber sido un jugador m\u00e1s completo, con buenas habilidades defensivas, que le permitieron mantenerse durante m\u00e1s de una d\u00e9cada en primera divisi\u00f3n inglesa, ser una leyenda de su club y campe\u00f3n del mundo con su pa\u00eds. Y sobre todo, a pesar de haber sido dentro del campo de juego un defensor \u00e1spero, se lo recordar\u00e1, fuera de la cancha, como un caballero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image
